GitHub said the deprecations were announced on Sept. 18. Copilot Enterprise administrators may need to enable access to the replacement models through model policies in Copilot settings. Once enabled, the alternatives should appear in the Copilot Chat model selector in VS Code and on GitHub.com. Customers do not need to take any action to remove the deprecated models, the company said.

The announcement applies to most Copilot experiences; GitHub's notice does not say the models are being removed from every product or service. It directs enterprise customers with questions to their account managers.
